Activity for 6-1-2010
I passed out another 200 cards today. I’m going to be switching gears to learn a new skill set. After posting, responding, and getting feedback from the message board about my marketing business cards on Better Networker, I realized that I need to switch gears. I’ve passed out several thousand now and I’ve got no calls or sign ups. I’m going to continue to pass out cards but I”m going to do it maybe once a week.
Halfway finished card campaign
This morning, I went to grab some more cards from the shipping box. I counted the number of boxes of cards I have left. I have about 2,500 cards left to distribute after I finish passing out the 1 1/2 boxes I brought along today.
The store owner that I made a deal with wanted to see a card before I sent it. I had stopped by the store on Tuesday because he hadn’t responded to my email about not putting the coupon on the postcard. That would have cost me an additional .31 cents. Right now, each post card is going to cost .31 + .28 cents a total of .59 cent per card plus my labor cost of typing in each name.
Tonight, I’m going to see about producing a t.v program on CAN TV about home-based businesses.
Activity for 5-24-2010
It was hot yesterday in Chicago. At first, I didn’t want to pass out any cards. I went and had lunch, and afterwards, entertained the idea of taking the day off. I started passing out cards around 1:45 p.m. After I got in motion, it was easy. I passed out cards for about an hour and distributed about 100 cards. It’s hard now to pass out cards because of the reponse rate that I’ve got. But, you live and learn.

So far I’ve received zero calls or sign-ups for a free gift account from my passing out business cards from the street. I figure I have about 3000 business cards left. I plan on passing out more cards today in the 90 degree weather. But after talking to my sponsor on Friday night, I might have better results going to networking events. I wont’ be able for another eight weeks as my second part-time job ends.
Activity for 5-20-2010
Yesterday I passed out around 150 business cards. I changed locations again as I have yet to get any responses. While standing on the corner of Wells and Jackson, I met a guy who had found my card on the ground somewhere and showed me it. He had asked for two more cards and showed me his drawings of superhero characters he did.
Activity for 5-19-10
Yesterday I passed out another 500 cards. While I was in front of the Illinois State Building, two sheriff deputies walked by, and I gave a business card to one of them. When they returned out, the sheriff I didn’t give the card to, stopped to tell me that he had thought about doing S.O.C. eight months ago. I was shocked! I thought to myself, you know about S.O.C.’s? Well, I tried to encourage him that it wasn’t too late to join.
I went by my old employer’s retail shop. I worked out the details to do a co-marketing campaign with him. We struck a deal! At the end of our meeting, he gave me about 100 business cards to put into the database to send to his customers. I wrote out two messages for the post card last night. One, was to thank the customer for their business. The other was to invite them to send a greeting card on cardrelationshipmarketing.com.
Activity for 5-18-10
Today I passed out about 400 business cards. I stood at two different locations, in front of the Illinois State Building and at the entrance of the Metra Station at Randolph and Michigan. I completed my proposal to submit to my former employer, I just have to type it up. Tomorrow is going to be in the 70’s. I should be able to pass out another 500. I might try a different location again.
Reaching out to my upline
Over the weekend, I reached out to my upline. I had conversations with two people which turned out to be very valuable. I was given a few ideas to help with generating leads outside of passing out business cards, along with improving upon my message that I have on my business cards. One suggestion will also save me some money. There is website that offers 5000 business cards for half the price that I paid. Just by me reaching out to my upline, I will be able to save hundreds of dollars in my marketing budget.
I also had an idea to talk to a former employee about a co-venture with using my greeting cards to help bring in customers for his business. I have to work out the details.
Motivating Myself
At this point, I’m 100 percent into building my business. I’ve been in the labor market long enough that I can’t be shaken from what I’m doing. I know that I need to build a business and I know that I need to market it just as any business needs to be marketed. I’ve passed flyers out all my life. But I don’t think I have every passed them out as consistant as I am now. I anticipate that I will pass out 250 business cards a day, 1,250 a week, and 5,000 for the month. My expense at this point has been $90.00. I just found a website that really validates my mindset and discusses the network industry that I’m entering into for the … time?
Activity for 5-14-2010
I received my new cards Wednesday, but because of Chicago’s weather, I had to wait until Friday to pass out the cards. It took 2 1/2 hours to pass out five hundred business cards. I recieved one call already.
